Future of health services in Enfield
There has been much controversy over plans to reorganise local health services. At Enfield LINk Annual General Meeting on 14 July the Chair, John Lynch, discussed his concern that a review of planned changes to local health services under the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Clinical Strategy was not adequate, a view shared by many of those present.
Afterwards he wrote to Health Secretary Andrew Lansley, explaining that “There is considerable concern in Enfield that patients and public will, in practice, have little or no opportunity to influence the outcome of the review and thus future planning”. Enfield LINk Board is awaiting a reply, and will continue to make the case for better involvement by the LINk and local people when major service changes are being considered.
